white snapper The Barramundi (Lates calcarifer) In Japanese : アカマ (Akame), in Chinese : 尖吻鲈鱼 (Jian Wen Lu Yu), also known as Asian Seabass, is a species of (migrate to sea in order to breed) which belongs to the Latidae family of order Perciformes. The native species is widely distributed in the Indo-West Pacific region from the Persian Gulf, through to South East Asia, Papua New Guinea and Northern Australia.Known in Thai language as Pla Krapong (Thai: ปลากระพง), it is very popular in Thai cuisine.
